This hill station, situated 1,100 meters above sea level, 75 km east of Kotayam, forms the focal point of a massive tourism development project envisaged by the Kerala Eco-tourism Development Society.
Called "World Class Hill Resort at Wagamon", the project will cover all the important areas such as anchor resort, eco-lodges vacation houses, camp sites, lakes, promenade, holistic healing centre, planters' sports club, multipurpose cultural theatre, tourist information centre, conservation research institute, civic hall, boarding school, botanical garden, spice garden, fruit orchard and boating, sailing and rock climbing centre. Construction work is on at several points, especially at the sites of hotels, resorts and educational institutions. The work of Ananya Hills Resorts and Rejuvenation Centre is almost complete. The existing facilities include five cottages, dormitory, kitchen, conference hall, yoga and meditation centre, gliding training and trekking facilities. The rejuvenation centre is called Ayushhida Ayurvedic Centre. The second phase of the project is expected to commence soon.
Wagamon is well known for the inspiring beauty of its hills. A chain of three hills- Thangal hill, Murugan hill and Kurishumala - represents the three major religions and stand as lasting monuments of religious harmony.
